Overall though, this is a pretty impressive set of noise results from the Lumix TZ200 / ZS200’s 1 inch 20 Megapixel sensor. For this first test I set the Lumix TZ200 / ZS200 to its shortest 24mm equivalent wide angle setting and selected an aperture of f4 – which I’d previously determined produced the best quality results. ISO 3200 is probably the highest setting I’d willingly use. What is the Panasonic Lumix TZ200 or ZS200?In terms of design, the TZ200 is near-identical to its predecessor, with a solid-feeling metal body shell providing a feel of real quality. The TZ200 can even make a decent attempt at tracking a moving subject and re-adjusting focus while shooting at 7fps. Finally there’s the crop from the central area of the frame where, perhaps not surprisingly, there’s lots of nice sharp detail in the cathedral stonework. Here I’ve zoomed the Lumix TZ200 / ZS200 in to a ‘middling’ focal length of 120mm equivalent.

Just to note the sensitivity range of the Lumix TZ200 / ZS200 is 125 to 12800 ISO, but it can be extended to 80 to 25600 ISO. The ISO sensitivity was manually set to the lowest available setting and Aperture priority mode was selected for the exposure. Not without its compromises, however, the TZ200 is small, neat and not dramatically overpriced.

There’s the merest hint of colour fringing but you have to look very closely to spot it.

The TZ200 / ZS200 was mounted on a tripod and image stabilisation was disabled, the sensitivity was manually set to 125 ISO and Aperture priority mode was selected for the exposure. At longer settings and smaller apertures, you’ll see the lower resolution.Unfortunately, the TZ200 doesn’t appear to benefit from the improved color science Panasonic has introduced in its latest mirrorless models such as the GX9. ISO 100, ISO 125, ISO 12800, ISO 1600, ISO 200, ISO 25600, ISO 3200, ISO 400, ISO 6400, ISO 80, ISO 800, ISO auto It continues to work remarkably well in low light conditions, too, where other cameras can sometimes struggle. Its extended reach has been made possible by the adoption of a completely new 13-element, 11-group optical design, and brings the TZ200 somewhat closer to the zoom ranges offered by cheaper long-zoom compacts with smaller sensors and inferior image quality.Panasonic Lumix TZ200 or Zs200 – FeaturesHowever, I was very pleased with the TZ200’s output when shooting monochrome.

Panasonic Lumix TZ200, or ZS200 as it’s well-known in North America, could be a compact travel zoom camera its hugely standard travel-zoom series. This still isn’t huge compared to most other cameras, but it’s vastly better than the TZ100’s ‘postage stamp at the end of a tunnel’ 1.16m-dot, 0.46x version. That said, even though at 1600 ISO the noise is quite plain to see in these 100 percent crops, you wouldn’t notice it at smaller sizes. All words, images, videos and layout, copyright 2005-2020 Gordon Laing. The phone lines are crisply defined with no haloing and no evidence of noise in the pale blue sky.I zoomed the TZ200 / ZS100 in a little to an equivalent focal length of 35mm. It’s possible to extract 8-megapixel stills from 4K footage, but you’ll get better results from the 4K Photo mode.Indeed, Panasonic has crammed in a huge selection of modes and features for users at every skill level. Once again, it’s sharp and there’s plenty of detail but there is some noticeable purple fringing in the trees. By Gavin Stoker 01 September 2020.

Indeed, in pretty much every aspect of its operation, it works really well.Browsing through my images confirmed that the metering generally worked well, and I rarely had to apply for exposure compensation except for creative purposes – for example, to make night-time shoots look dark. By the time you reach ISO 1600, however, image quality has decreased substantially, with color desaturating and fine detail becoming swamped by noise. This works with the free Panasonic Image App for Android or iOS devices. On the whole, the AF works exceptionally well, and in good light focusing is instantaneous, making the TZ200 great for quick shots.
