We are closed for submissions at the moment while we read. It’s essential that you familiarise yourself with any journal, online or offline before submitting, so do visit, but we enjoyed McSweeney’s submission guidelines so much even if you don’t write what they publish, they are worth a read! We’re really reading as fast as we can. Absolutely all submissions must look like this: My Funny Experience [story title] Should contain some indicator of what is contained in your submission. Because our staff is so small, we aren’t continually reading submissions for the quarterly. COVER LETTER Please keep yours brief, though we do like to hear from people who read and like the magazine. Timely submissions should be sent to [email protected]. Don’t even bother describing how your piece would be best if formatted in a particular way because we probably cannot achieve this formatting on the site. Should be on your submission. If you have a query about your submission, please email [email protected]. COVER LETTER Your submission did not take place in a jungle. Used to be highly encouraged. We would describe his case of melancholy as ‘very mild.’ Reports of him running around on the battlements in the dead of night and shouting at an invisible man are scurrilous.” SUBMITTING ONE THING AT A TIME The length and detail of the response will often be shorter and vaguer than you would probably like, but again, our editorial staff is small, weary, and unfashionably attired. Under no circumstances should you simultaneously submit the same piece of writing to both [email protected] and to [email protected]. Anonymous submissions will not be accepted, but if you’d prefer not to be named at all on our website, you should indicate this in your email. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU DON’T HEAR BACK FROM US ABOUT YOUR SUBMISSION. By shortish we mean an absolute maximum of 1,200 words, but in truth we veer toward pieces that are under 1,000 words, and snuggle closest to ones that are even shorter than that.
